After a successful Austrian grain storage project last year, TSC will execute a new project in Austria.  This year it concerns a new bulk loading street for feed pellets. Main contractor is IFK Schüttgut Technik, end user Lugitsch Futtermühle.

The Dutch inland port facility DOK will considerably extend its square storage silo capacity. DOK focuses heavily on the transhipment of raw materials for animal feed.

Emsland Flour Mills, situated in the western state of Niedersachsen, Germany will extend its silo storage capacity. This will be designed and executed by the Bavarian based main contractor Ing. Stefan Kastenmüller GmbH.

During Q3 and Q4 2013 two large square silo installations will be erected in Germany. Both projects concern greenfield feed mills and are turn-key projects of Ottevanger Milling Engineers from the Netherlands.

The coffee market is changing quickly nowadays. In order to meet demanding consumer wishes, new plants with new technologies are being build. Obviously these plants need storage capacity.

Time is money, also in case of bulk outloading. Like aircrafts must be in the air, trucks should be on the road. In order to minimize loading time, smart bulk handling plants use so called “contrasets”.

Provimi, which is Cargill’s animal nutrition and premix business, is currently rolling out a U.S. $20 million investment in South Africa. By the end of last year, Cargill gained a majority share of NuTec, a manufacturer of vitamin and mineral premix for the animal nutrition industry.

In some industries square is rare, but it is time for a change. Where the food and feed industry rely heavily on the concept of square silos, the construction sector hardly applies this economical storage solution.

Some dry bulk and solids have a corrosive character or require maximum hygiene. There are numerous special silo coatings, but nothing beats stainless steel. At the same time, black steel is more advantageous financially.

Large silo installations require tremendous precision. Silo users demand an extreme tight silo for sanitary reasons. This pushes us to the limit regarding the individual silo parts tolerances. In particular, very tall silo installations are challenging.

A smooth wall silo has a sanitary design and it got its strength from inside reinforcements, creating a hollow wall space. Especially with small bins for e.g. minerals or micro components, the hollow wall space absorbs storage volume.
