Brewing and Malting: Raw Materials
AB InBev invested in a fourth brew line for the Stella Artois brewery in Leuven, Belgium. An investment in the roots of this world market leader. TSC Silos installed the prominent square silos on an atypical surface.
Between offloading street and logo
TSC took on the task to realize a maximum storage capacity for Stella’s raw materials, between the offloading street and the logo. Easier said than done: the total steel, square silo construction is 19.5 meters high and had to be placed on top of an offloading street of 18.5 meters high. All that while the façade with the Stella Artois logo starts at 42 meters above ground level. For obvious reasons, dismantling the prominent logo wasn’t an option. This resulted in limited space for the installation of the top layers profiled wall panels. Using special hoist equipment, the last layers of wall panels were installed without any problems, directly below the logo, at a height of about 40 meters.
Another challenge: the surface of the supporting offloading street construction has the shape of a semicircle. By decreasing the width of the protruding profiled wall silo bins, a total capacity of almost 2,000 m³ was reached. A fringe benefit is that the deconstructed round façade can be build up along the silo columns, partially supported by the silo.
This way we realized this challenging project, without obstructing the daily state of affairs in and around the brewery.
A special project in which the power of our silo system was really decisive. Maximum utilisation of the available round ground, precisely by placing rectangular silos on it. Due to the great height and the challenge of keeping the logo intact during construction, the modular construction method of our silos was also a great advantage.
Procedure The regulations of the industry, the properties of the material, the geographical conditions of the construction site, the weather conditions in the region… we leave nothing to chance. We therefore work according to the TSC roadmap. This way, we work efficiently and do not overlook any detail. A solid approach for a solid result.Questions? Contact us
