In some industries square is rare, but it is time for a change. Where the food and feed industry rely heavily on the concept of square silos, the construction sector hardly applies this economical storage solution.

TSC reports a prominent order for a gravel silo block in Austria. The square block consists of 14 bins and has a much smaller footprint compared to the round option. At the same time square is financially more attractive.

TSC’s customer IFK Schüttgut Technik, an Austrian turn-key process installation supplier, adopted the square concept for one of its customers. The silos will be used for the construction of a major highway project in Austria. Total capacity is 2.500m3 of gravel. Since this product has a high density, the storage equivalent in weight is 4.000ton.
