Location: Farmsum, Netherlands
Others: Car tyre recycling
In Farmsum, near Delfzijl, in the Groningen Seaports port area, Circtec has built a tire recycling facility. Annually, over 20 million discarded tires will be converted into chemicals, biofuel for shipping, and carbon black through extreme heat (pyrolysis). TSC has built six freestanding silos for the storage of carbon black, a filler for new tires. Constructed entirely of stainless steel, the two largest cells are an impressive 6.0 x 6.0 meters with a wall height of 8.2 meters. The hoppers, at 6.645 meters tall, are also impressive.
The CIRCTEC project is a prime example of the versatility of square silos and clearly demonstrates the added value of TSC Silos within complex projects. This project was special for TSC for several reasons. For example, we contributed to the construction of the largest car tire recycling plant in the world, a facility that reduces the total annual CO₂ emissions of the Dutch chemical industry by an impressive 5%. The largest silos in this project are impressively large, with cell dimensions of 6 x 6 meters and constructed entirely of stainless steel. What makes this project extra special is that TSC was involved from the very beginning. Together with CIRCTEC and Bilfinger, we collaborated on the development of the storage silos for carbon black powder, focusing on functionality, sustainability, and reliability.
Procedure The regulations of the industry, the properties of the material, the geographical conditions of the construction site, the weather conditions in the region… we leave nothing to chance. We therefore work according to the TSC roadmap. This way, we work efficiently and do not overlook any detail. A solid approach for a solid result.
