Challenging market conditions in printed matter obliges Flint Group to produce more and more efficiently, a process in which silos come into play. Back in 2013 TSC finished a successful project at Flint’s establishment in The Netherlands. Recently, Flint’s German counterpart decided to expand her storage capacity with TSC silos as well – a colourful prospect.
Flint Group is, with almost 8.000 employees worldwide, one of the biggest suppliers to the global printing industry. The company is determined and dedicated to bring colour to the printing industry, leading to an essential expansion of her storage capacity for ink powder. In total six silo cells are added to one of Flint’s heatset ink production facilities in Germany.
After the first successful project together with TSC there were no doubts to build square silos once more. TSC took on several big challenges involved in the project. First of all a maximum storage capacity has been created on a limited surface. The silos have been integrated in an existing hall with limited height. By building square and directly near the walls, no valuable space was lost. A bonus point to this is that the process technology has been accommodated in the silo tower, which prevents that separate steel constructions were required. Besides, for the sake of flexibility, five of six silo bins have been executed in different dimensions.
At the same time will be dealt with products with poor flow properties. It concerns fine ink powder, characterized by particles down to 1 micron (0,001 millimetres). Our smooth walls and relatively big, steep hoppers are taking care of a smooth and hassle-free outflow of these difficult products. The silo has totally been executed dust-free and furthermore prepared for pressure relief in case of possible internal explosions. Via – consciously created – weak spots the pressure will be led away properly.
The completion of the project took place in June 2017
